Merger would be decided by state lawmakers

Officials from the University of Missouri System and Northwest Missouri State University will be discussing a possible merger Friday. If talks conclude, the passing of the merger will be in the hands of state lawmakers to decide. Matt Johnson is at the State Capitol.

Republican Rep. Brad Lager says he will sponsor a bill to enact the merger once the boards propose it.

He says residents of his Northwest Missouri disrict believe the change is worth considering.
