Missouri has a state flower, a state tree, and could soon have a state grass if legislation is passed. Matt Johnson tells how children offer a helping hand.
Last year fourth graders from Rolla proposed big bluestem become the state's official grass.
Representative Bob May heard the proposal and said the bill has significance for Missourians.
"It a native grass to our state and to other areas...prairie areas."
May says he's confident that the bill will pass in both chambers.
The fourth graders will speak next week before the House in support of what they call, Missouri's signature grass.
