Wrap: A couple of rural lawmakers are supporting a proposed constitutional amendment to protect farmers rights to engage in modern farming and ranching practices.

The resolution would outlaw any law that would infringe on farmers rights to use technology in production.

Former representative Tom Loehner supports the measure and says the livestock industry  is essential to the state.

Run Time:  00:05
Description: "You can do without a boat, you can do without a car and you can do without a lot of other things, but you can't do without food."

The Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation opposes the plan and says the language of the amendment would allow animal cruelty.

For the resolution to become an amendment it must first pass the legislature and then be approved by the voters.
