VP makes push for renewable energies

Intro: The vice president has a message for the Show-Me State: Show me renewable energies, and I'll show you the future.

Addressing a crowd of union workers at the ABB Transformer Factory, vice president Joe Biden praised the company's embrace of wind power. 

Despite recent layoffs, ABB is able to move forward on a project that generates enough wind energy to power more than 50,000 homes.

Part of the project's funding comes from the federal stimulus.

Description: "It will increase the bottom lines of businesses and individuals through greater efficiency, lower gas prices by reducing our dependence on foreign oil, return America to our rightful place as the leading edge of progress in the world."


Biden says the federal stimulus is building a twenty-first century economy in Missouri and across the nation.

Thanks to the federal stimulus, the ABB Transformer Factory is able to get behind a wind energy project strong enough to power more than 50,000 homes.  

But despite the leap to green technology, ABB was forced to let go of ninety employees in February.
