Senator Frank Barnitz reminded community leaders throughout the state of various deadlines for federal stimulus grants.

He says most of the requests are from the secondary education and transportation departments.

Actuality:  BARNITZ1.WAV
Run Time: 00:16
Description: "There's been several dollars that have been requested for transportation improvement from county level to the cities. And then of course we know that the state has requested a large portion and has received quite a bit of money to go towards bridges and road improvements."

Barnitz says the turnaround for receiving money depends on the amount requested. He says it is not a requirement that the requested funding be used for creating jobs.
