Description: "Even with a significant rebound in our revenue, and even with the stabilization dollars, we are going to have to continue to make deep cuts in our spending."

Wrap: Federal stimulus dollars have increased some state program budgets by up to 20 times their usual levels, but the lack of revenue coming into the state could push economic stability further into the future.

State Budget Director Linda Luebbering said that revenue collections weren't likely to increase enough to stave off more cuts.

Actuality:  LUBE3.WAV
Run Time:  00:05
Description: "I think we would be all very pleasantly surprised if that happened and would all jointly be very happy about that news. But the simple fact is that we can't assume that is going to happen."

Luebbering said that unless revenue increases by 4.2 percent, the office will have to make more budget cuts next quarter.

Wrap: More budget cuts may be on the way if the state can't generate its needed revenue. Revenue is down five percent from the same time last year, and State Budget Director Linda Luebbering said recovery may be further in the future.

Actuality:  LUBE1.WAV
Run Time:  00:12
Description: "We all know that our revenue will eventually turn around. The economy is going to rebound. Our revenue collections will to pick up. I think the big unknown right now is when is that going to happen?"

Luebbering said her office will wait until next quarter's revenue figures are available before recommending further cuts.
