Governor's office won't confirm FBI investigation

Governor Blunt's office says they know nothing of an FBI investigation into Missouri's license fee officies.

The Kansas City Star reported that the FBI's investigation centers on Governor Blunt's appointees to license fee offices.

FBI Special Agent Jeff Lanza says it's the agency's policy to stay tight-lipped.

Contents: "I can't confirm or deny an investigation. Normally, when we are undergoing an investigation, we can't make any comments confirming or denying an investigation and the only public comments that would be made, if that situation existed, were if charges were filed."

The Governor's office said they too cannot confirm whether the FBI is investigating thier political appointments.

According to the Kansas City Star, the FBI's investigation centers on the Blunt administration awarding license fee offices to political supporters across the state.

Spence Jackson, the top spokesman for the Governor's office said he cannot confirm an investigation is being conducted.

Contents: "We really don't know anything about that other than what we've read in the papers. No one has contacted our office about the driver's license offices across the state. So, we really don't have anything to add to that, that hasn't already been reported in the newspapers."

The FBI also would not confirm nor deny there is an investigation.
