State Auditor Claire McCaskill says she's used to speedy compliance when she asks for documents from state agencies.

But when staffers requested personnel files for an audit of pay-equity in different departments, instead of the documents, she received nearly identical letters challenging her authority to have them.

McCaskil says the identical letters show they had a single source.

Adding to the fray between the Holden and McCaskil camps are published reports that Holden asked for the resignation of one state employee for giving a one-hundred dollar donation to McCaskil's campaign.

McCaskil says this could be evidence that Gov. Holden is using state government to punish her for running against him in next year's democratic primary.

A spokeswoman denies the Governor's was involved in either incident.
