2014 Bill(s)

* HCS HB 1557
Sponsor: Hinson, Dave
Status: S 3rd Read
Description: Specifically exempt an automated traffic enforcement system violation from leading to points on a driving license and limit the fine to no more than $135. Died from a Senate filibuster. By prohibiting points, the bill would resolve a problem caused by a 2013 state Supreme Court decision that current law requires points for moving violations, which effectively stopped red-light cameras since the driver is not identified to get the points.

  • Note: The descriptions of bills, amendments and roll-call votes are written by MDN journalists. MDN's database may not include committee assignments of bills made on the last day of the session since it is too late for the committee to act on the bill and, thus, the delayed assignment has no practical effect.
