Wrap:In an unusual move, the bill sponsor did not call for the override, but a Democrat did, St. Louis County Representative Deb Lavender.

A special task force will try to find a compromise to restore those cuts. If Missouri Governor Eric Greitens agrees with the compromise, he may call a special session.

Budget Chairman and Republican Representative Scott Fitzpatrick said he has worked to fund in-home care but the bill is not the solution.

Democrats said an override would help senior and disabled Missourians as fast as possible.

Cuts to in-home care for senior and disabled Missourians will stay after a veto override failed in the House

Wrap:Republican leadership unveiled a task force with the goal of compromising to restore cuts to in-home care. They hope to strike a deal that the House, Senate and governor can agree on.

However, Democrat Senator Crystal Quade said the legislature should fund the care immediately.

“You know, we had an opportunity to stand up to the governor as a body and say that we believe that these folks deserve in-home services and nursing home care and that these folks are a priority for us.”

Republicans said the governor would withhold funding for in-home care even if his veto was overridden.
