Links: HB 60

Intro:
The newly-inaugurated Governor led by example on ethics reform, banning his staff from accepting gifts or lobbying him.
RunTime: 0:40
OutCue:  SOC

Wrap: A few minutes after being sworn in as Governor, Eric Greitens required all executive branch workers to not accept lobbyist gifts. Also, his staff may not lobby the executive branch during his administration.

The order calls for disciplinary action for any violators, but does not require their dismissal.

The measure would not affect members of the General Assembly. The Missouri House passed a lobbyist gift ban through its first committee. Bill sponsor Justin Alferman said the measure would make lawmakers more unbiased.

Actuality:  ALFERMA1.WAV
Run Time: 00:06
Description: I think there has been influence that's been levied unduly from lobbyists over legislators for a number of years.
