A Senate vote to increase fuel tax is delayed again.

The end of the legislative session nears as another vote for increasing the fuel tax is delayed.

Wrap: Missouri needs to spend more on roads and bridges in order to receive additional federal funding.

Increasing the fuel tax is one solution.

But Republican Senator Ed Emery suggested considering other options in place of raising taxes.

Description: We're saying well unless we raise taxes, we're not going to get this federal draw-down. That's not an accurate explanation of the cicumstance. The circumstance isn't dependent on raising taxes. The circumstances are that we have to spend the money on the roads.

Republican leaders continued to call for the fuel tax increase.

Only a week after the Senate gave first-round approval to increasing the fuel tax, lawmakers filibustered another attempt to increase it.

Eleven republicans voted "yes" and thirteen voted "no" to increasing the fuel tax one week ago. 

Republican Senator Mike Kehoe is for the increased tax.
