Wrap: Deputy Auditor Harry Otto says the main concern from the report is the governor's office is misusing funds from other agencies to pay for their expenses.

Actuality:  OTTO.WAV
Run Time:  00:13
Description: "The payment of operating costs by other state agencies, costs that should have been absorbed and paid for by the governor's office but were, in fact, charged to other state agencies."

Despite these concerns, the audit gave the same fair rating it issued in the last audit of governor's office three years ago.

Wrap: In the report released by the auditor's office, funds appropriated to government agencies were used to pay for the expenses and salaries of employees in the governor's office.

According to the report, the Departments of Elementary and Secondary Education, Natural Resources and Public Safety are three of fourteen state agencies that paid for the salaries of six employees of the governor's office. Those agencies have also reimbursed their travel expenses.

The report shows thirteen hundred dollars were used to pay for a float trip for Governor Nixon, his family, and four employees in the governor's office.

Wrap: Deputy Auditor Harry Otto says since the governor's office misused funds, other government agencies had to use their funds to pay for the governor's expenses instead of using them within their agency.

Actuality:  OTTO1.WAV
Run Time:  00:19
Description: "The spending in that budget is being manipulated, to some extent, because elementary and secondary education gets x dollars to spend but then they've got to save some money or use some money to spend some expenses that were incurred by the governors office, so therefore, they didn't get everything that they were supposed to get."

According to the report, fourteen government agencies paid the salaries of six employees in the governor's office.
