Wrap: Nancy Elliott shared the story of the death of her only child to the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday.

Her teenage son Austin was riding in a car with a friend who had been drinking because two adults provided the driver alcohol.

Run Time:  00:14
Description: "The two adults that went and bought this liquor for this child, our prosecutors, our law enforcement, they scrambled to come up with what they could to prosecute these men."

The bill would make it a felony for an adult to provide alcohol to minors.

The charge would be more severe if there was injury or death involved.

No immediate action was taken on the bill.

A friend of Austin's was driving and had been drinking.

The alcohol was provided by two adults who Elliott said law enforcement had had a hard time sentencing.

Run Time:  00:06
Description: "I can go out and write a five hundred dollar bad check and get a felony. But they can go out and kill, and get a misdemeanor."

Two sheriff's from two different Missouri counties also testified in support and the committee took no immediate action on the bill.
