Wrap: Senate Majority Leader Ron Richard said Governor Nixon's concerns about the available budget for the Missouri Highway Patrol and National Guard in Ferguson were unwarranted.

Run Time:  00:13
Description: "Based on Senator Schaefer, our budget chairman's review of the budget, um, particularly a couple of days ago over the weekend, um, unless there's something wrong with a computer, um we believe that there's enough money there."

Originally he announced his special session to ensure the troops were paid by December 15.

But he later said he agreed with the points offered by Senate and House leadership.

Wrap: In a written statement, Nixon originally called the special session to pay the Missouri National Guard and Highway Patrol by the December 15.

But according to Senate Republican Leader Ron Richard, that was never going to be an issue.

Description: "We track expenses and, um, revenues, you know, on a weekly basis and then with this happening and the call after Thanksgiving, um, we've asked the budget chairman Senator Schaefer to track this daily and his information to us is he believes the governor has the money to do it."

In his latest press release, Nixon dropped his original statement, saying he agreed with the rationale offered by legislative leadership.

Wrap: Nixon issued a letter just days ago saying the Missouri National Guard and Highway Patrol needed more money in order to protect Ferguson during recent unrest.

But Senate Majority Leader Ron Richard said there was always enough money to cover those expenses.

Run Time:  00:20
Description: "All I'm concerned about is helping these people that have lost their businesses and these innocent victims of, of the Ferguson community and would like to help them but, as I said, according to Senator Schaefer, and I'm taking his word for it, at this present time that we believe that the administration has the sufficient revenue to do whatever they need to do."

After legislative criticism, the governor abandoned his plea for a special December session.
