Wrap: The Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan will begin to accept enrollment applications from same-sex couples with a valid marriage license from a different state.

Mia Platz is the communication manager for plan.

Actuality:  MIA1.WAV
Run Time:  00:18
Description: "We're going to have a special enrollment period for folks who, if that situation does apply to them, they will have a time period where they can enroll, their spouses as well as their spouse's dependants. We are still finalizing the details on that, that all of our members will be receiving more information about that here very shortly."

The health care plan covers nearly one-hundred thousand government workers and spouses.

The plan's change comes after a ruling from a Jackson County judge that requires Missouri to recognize same-sex marriages from other states.

The plan's change follows a decision made by a Jackson County Circuit Judge on Friday requiring Missouri to recognize same-sex marriages from other states.

Description: "However, once they are enrolled and request that coverage, we're basically asking for the exact same information. They'll have to fill out the same forms, they have to submit the same documentation, you know, a valid marriage license, and if they wanted to include a dependent, we need a valid birth certificate or other legal documentation that shows that. So, it's basically the same as any other married couple."
