Gun advocates rally in state Capitol as anti-gun control measure gets House approval

That's the sound of your state Capitol and hundreds of gun advocates shouting "We're Here."

Lawmakers seem to have noticed, because just three floors above the rally the Missouri House gave its approval to a measure that would block any future gun control laws. That vote comes even as federal gun control proposals have failed in the US Senate.

Missouri gun owners like Steve Huse say Missouri's vote is a good step, but he says he still felt a need to demonstrate in Jefferson City.

The applause from gun rights advocates echoed through the chambers for two hours, while just three floors above the Missouri House gave its approval to a measure that would block any future gun control laws.

Republican Representative Douglas Funderburk is sponsoring the bill, and says its still important despite the fact that gun federal gun proposals were shot down in the US Senate.

Gun control talks may have failed in Washington, but that didn't stop hundreds of gun rights advocates from holding a loud rally in Jefferson City.

Representative Jeff Roorda spoke at the rally, one of the only Democrats to do so.
