One House Member on the Governor's Trip to China Looks for the Trip's Value

While legislators continue stalling on the tax breaks for a China air cargo transport hub in St. Louis, Missouri's governor is preparing for a trip to China on Friday for trade negotations.

Missouri's governor Jay Nixon will spend a week in China as part of a business trade mission, and he's not alone.

House Representative Jason Kander is joining the trade mission.

Kander acknowledges that the China Hub bill could have been a valuable tool to be discussed with the Chinese, but...

Description: "It doesn't affect the trip. You know, it's just been one of the extra tools in the tool box. The trip is certainly still a huge opportunity to increase the amount of exports that we sent to the Chinese market."

Kander says the trade mission is still able to promote Missouri exports with the existing tools and facilities in today's global market.

The costs of the trip will be covered by a private, non-profit organization.

Kander says increasing Missouri exports in China will add more job opportunities for the local workers.

He says he considers the trip as a good opportunity to advertise Missouri products in the global market.

In joining the Governor's trip to China, Representative Jason Kander says the trip will benefit Missouri economy.

Although Kander says he doesn't know why he is invited by the Governor's Office to the trip, his objective is to do everything he can to increase the sales of Missouri products.
