Wrap: Republican Representative Scott Largent announced his candidacy for the Missouri Senate in the thirty-first District in 2012.

The new thirty-first district is made up of parts of Jackson County and rural counties outside of Kansas City.

Largent says working in the Senate became a possibility as the result of the newly released redistricting maps in Missouri.

Actuality:  LARGENT2.WAV
Run Time:  00:08
Description: "With the redistricting, Senator Parson moved South, Senator Pearce moved North, and it left a whole with Henry County right in the center."

Because of the new maps, there is no incumbent candidate entering the 2012 election.

Largent was elected to the House in 2008 and serves as the Chairman of the Children and Families Committee.

The party primaries will be held in August and the general election will be held in November.

Largent was elected to the House in 2008 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Children and Families Committee.

The party primaries will be held in August and the general election will be held in November.
