Dempsey asked that the bill be placed on the consent calendar, meaning it could be passed with a short voice vote in the Senate.

Other states with major defense and aerospace programs, such as Kansas and Illinois, have already supported similar regulations in their states that would allow the tax breaks to such companies.
Dempsey said that a similar regulation could help support Missouri companies, such as The Boeing Corporation, which has a base in St. Louis.
