MU School of Health Professions Dean Richard Oliver says an increase of retirement has left a shortage of physical and occupational therapists in rural Missouri, and says he is going ahead with a plan to increase their numbers.

Description: By selecting some more rural based community colleges we can recruit locally, train locally, and then hopefully a lot of those graduates will stay  in rural areas to tend to these dramatic shortages that we see in the health care work force.

Oliver says MU will provide the course work and core faculty to the community colleges.
