In a proposal democrats call politically motivated, Republican Representative Steven Hunter proposed an amendment to raise taxes in order to restore Medicaid cuts.

The anti-tax Representative said the amendment would give $300 million to Medicaid allowing for more public access.

Boone County Democratic Representative Judy Baker says this amendment is a sham.

Description: How convenient it is to offer an amendment like this that is number one unconstitutional. How convenient,  Mr. Speaker, to offer an amendment that is after the budget process is practically closed down.

Furthermore, democratic representatives argued whether the extra income would even reach its Medicaid recipients saying all this is, is a $300 million tax increase.
