Erika Navarrete (Nahv-ah-rett) has more from Jefferson City. The bill would prohibit the Revenue Department from issuing drivers licenses to anyone under the age of 18 not enrolled in school.
St. Louis Democratic Representative Rodney Hubbard is sponsoring the bill.
He says driving is not a right, it's a privilege.
The Department of Revenue would have the power to revoke licenses if a student decides to drop out.
The committee took no immediate action on the bill.

School districts would report ineligible students to the Missouri Department of Revenue.
Penny Rector, of the Missouri Association of School Administrators, expressed her concern of the responsibility imposed on school districts.
