The bill is designed to provide 880 million dollars in tax breaks to a Canadian firm to build an aircraft manufacturing plant in Kansas City.

Missouri Senate approved an amendment to the bill that would forbid politicians and their relatives from getting jobs at this plant.

Democratic Senator Victor Callahan had this to say:

Description: I don't want anybody from this building or the governor's mansion to have some family member involved in this, and then we read about it six months from now and go, 'Man, why didn't we try to put a lock on that door.'

Callahan's amendment would prohibit family members as distant as grandparents to benefit from the aircraft plant's tax credits.

Kansas City Democrat Victor Callahan used an analogy to explain the importance of his amendment, which banned even grandparents and granchildren from working at the plant.

Republican Senator Luanne Ridgeway says the amendment is an unnecessary piling on of the bill.

We're not concerned about whether or not I have a brother, sister, an aunt, or an uncle that works for the Department of Corrections.
