Intro: Missouri Republican leader Paul Sloca called for Democratic Senator Jeff Smith to step down from the Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee.

Prosecutors charged Democratic Senator Jeff Smith with misdemeanor fake i.d. charges Tuesday after the Senator used someone else's entrance card at a Boonville casino.

Republican leader Paul Sloca suggested immediate committee resignation.

Senate Minority Leader Maida Coleman and Democratic Senator Jolie Justus, who are both on the Jurisprudence Committee with Senator Smith, do not think a resignation is necessary.
