Intro: Democrats and Republicans clashe as the Senate Education Committee votes to sell parts of MoHELA to fund university construction.

Members of the Senate Education Committee voted to sell parts of MoHELA, utilizing profits to fund the construction of new university buildings.

Members of the two parties clashed, after Republicans proposed a substitute to halt funding designated for 6 Missouri public university buildings to be used for stem cell research.

Democrat Maida Coleman of St. Louis claimed the substitute was a Republican ploy to block construction in Democratic districts.

The profits from a partial MoHELA sale were set to fund the construction of public university buildings.

But committee chair Gary Nodler called a brief recess to discuss the destination for MoHELA profits with fellow Republicans.

Minutes later, the Republicans blocked the funding of 6 university buildings planned to host stem cell research.

Members of the two parties clashed and Democrat Maida Coleman of St. Louis claimed the substitute was dirty politics.
