Leaders of the Hispanic Community held a press conference Monday calling for the resignation of Ed Martin.

The issue stems from a remark made by Martin during a Missouri Housing Development Commission meeting last month.

According to transcript from the meeting, Martin made reference to "a bunch of Mexicans" in a response to an attorney's statement regarding the ability to check workers' immigration status.

Ezekiel Amador attended the conference Monday and calls Martin's comments nothing short of racist.

Description: "He has a responsibility too as a high level staffer to be responsible to the constituents, all the constituents. And as Hispanic Missourians or Mexican Missourians, you know however you want to frame that we're still Missourians."

The Governor's office has not yet announced whether any action will be taken against Martin.

From the state capitol, I'm Carly Robertson.
