Intro: The University of Missouri Board of Curators flip flop on stem cell. Fanna Haile-Selassie has more from the Capitol.
The UM System's President Elson Floyd spoke for the system when he said he supports Senator Gary Nodler's bill.
According to the Lewis and Clark division of the bill, any University or college that uses MoHELA money to construct education buildings cannot perform stem cell research in them.
This support comes as a surprise, because last year the Board of Curators refused any restrictions on using MoHELA money for any construction of buildings.
Senator Chuck Graham, asked why the board approved of the bill this time without any public discussion of the stem cell issue.
Truman State University also supports the bill

The Missouri Salary Comission has just passed a plan to increase wages for judges and state-elected officials by twelve hundred dollars. On top of that, they will receive an added 4 percent increase of their total salary.
Missouri legislators are threatening to kill the measure with a veto when the session begins.
Jack Pohrer is the chairman of the Commission. He said he hope the legislature won't veto the plan because the Commission was made for the citizens and is their voice.
With the passage of amendment 7, the legislature needs a two thirds majority to stop the measure. The plan will go into affect next July, barring a veto. From the state Capitol, I'm Fanna Haile-Selassie
