Extreme Missouri weather led to seven national declared natural disasters in two thousand six.  Two weeks entering in the new year, Missouri is in another state of emergency. So what is Missouri doing differently now?  The government is looking into using a competitive federal grant that will fund a pre-disaster mitigation program. Susie Stoner is the spokesperson for the State Emergency Management Agency.  She said this program is becoming more popular with local cities.

Description: The current thing that many communities are looking at are community safe rooms.  A lot of them are in conjunction with schools.

SEMA also submitted a new emergency earthquake plan for approval to Governor Matt Blunt at the end of last December.
