Intro: Senate Discussion delayed voting on a bill that would regulate large scale livestock operations.
Supporters of the bill say the current system makes regulating large animal feeding operations more difficult. The bill would remove local health ordinances and replace them with statewide regulations. Currently more than 20 Missouri counties stricter health ordinances than the state, and these rules are enforced by county health boards. Opponents say waste from the farming operations hurt local tourism, and that the counties should have the power to regulate. From Jefferson City, I'm Micah Wiener

Description: "We don't even allow them to regulate health, and yet we're gonna ask them to regulate agriculture? In which they have no expertise and no experience? Why don't we have the library board regulate the highway patrol? How's that for an idea?"
