University of Missouri President Elson Floyd surprised reporters and legislators alike when he abruptly announced he would leave M-U for a job at Washington State University.

Governor Blunt refused interviews and walked past reporters without commenting.

The day before, Floyd visited the state Capitol to talk with the governor about higher education.

In that meeting, the subject of resignation never came up.

So why did the president neglect to tell Blunt about this move?
