Former State Auditor Travels to Support Legislation

A blast from the past came to support a bill sponsored by Chuck Graham. Josh Kranzberg has more from the Capitol.

Republican Jim Antonio, a former state auditor for Missouri from 1978 to 1984, travelled from Arkansas to lend his support to Democratic Senator Graham.

Contents: Missouri is behind. Most other states have performance auditing and their legislatures and their citizens are profiting by having information not just on how much was spent, but what did you get for spending the money. It seems to me it's fundamental, and we're way behind, and anything I can do to help it along is fine.

The bill would let the state auditor do performance audits and expand their access to government records. Antonio goes on to say that if it passes, then the auditor's office can do what it is entitled and required to do. From Jefferson City, I'm Josh Kranzberg.
