Private organizations like the Red Cross have until December 8th to submit their expenses to the state of Missouri.

The state will then ask FEMA for money to reimburse those organizations.

Spokeswoman for the State Emergency Management Agency, Susie Stonner says she is not sure how much private organizations spent on relief efforts.

"We've got staff in St. Louis who are working with St. Louis city and St. Louis county on the sheltering and other emergency operations that were conducted in support of Hurricane Katrina. And, you know, you're looking for all the paperwork that goes along to justify the amounts of money that were spent."

Stonner says the state should receive the Federal reimbursement early next year.
