Cannibalistic bullfrog proposed as new state symbol

A cannibalistic bullfrog has been proposed as a new symbol for the state of Missouri. Meghan Kloth has more from Jefferson City.

The North American bull frog is known for both its' classic croak and its' tendency to eat its own kind. State reprsentative Susan Phillips has proposed making Missouri's largest frog the first official state amphibian.

"You cannot live here and go out of your home on a summer night without hearing a bullfrog if you are anywhere near water. I think it is very appropriate."

Phillips said the idea came from a group of elementary school kids she talked to last spring. She doesn't think the fact that the bullfrog is a cannibal will affect the bill, although it may make floor disscussions more interesting.
