Opposition is emerging to a proposed amendment of the state constitution that would put Missouri stem cell laws in the hands of the Federal Government. David Schneider has more in Jefferson City.
A coalition of stem cell research supporters says it wants to prevent Missouri from restricting stem cell research and its cures. State Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Matt Bartle, from Jackson County, is an opponent of the proposal. He says the state shouldn't give up the right to pass it's own stem cell laws.
The initiative is targeted to be on the November 2006 ballot, but Governor Blunt could bring it up sooner. From the state capital, I'm David Schneider.
