JEFFERSON CITY -Nascar driver Carl Edwards raced into the Senate chambers Wednesday as a special guest of Sen. Chuck Graham, D-Columbia.

Edwards, a native of Columbia, said that coming back to the Capitol had been amazing.

"I came here I believe in fourth grade and that was the last time I've been here," he said.

After being introduced by Graham, Edwards jetted to the Senate Lounge to sign autographs on Nascar license plates for various Capitol employees and some legislators.

"I have been to a lot of autograph sessions but I don't think I've ever signed an autograph for someone that had a tie on," Edwards joked.

In March, Edwards raced in Atlanta, picking up victories in the Busch and Nextel Cup races.
