AmerenUE shut down the Callaway nuclear plant near Fulton for ten weeks to replace four steam generators.

The plant produces more than 10 percent of Missouri's electricity.

But, AmerenUE Spokesperson Mike Cleary says the state should still have enough power.

He estimates the project will cost more than 200 million dollars.

Cleary says the company has yet to determine if the project's costs will cause rates to increase.

We have not raised electric rates in 18 years, but all of our costs eventually have to be recovered through rates in some fashion.

Cleary says some of the cost can be offset through the efficiency of the new generators.

He says rates won't change this year because they're frozen through June.
