Senator John Cauthorn from Mexico says water companies need to give customers notice before turning off their water services when they are late paying sewer bills. Cauthorn says even if the two services are connected, turning off water services should not be automatic.

St. Louis Senator Rita Days says she doesn't believe that paying for water services and sewage services should be linked at all. Cauthorn responded by saying there are existing contractual agreements between water and sewage companies.

The Senate passed the amendment and the bill is waiting on a final vote. From the State Capitol, I'm Lindsay Shively.
