Two Saint Louis lawmakers are sponsoring legislation to create a trust fund that would help open an archives center in Saint Louis City. The state archive center would be an addition to the archive center that already exists in Jefferson City.
St. Louis County Representative Kathlyn Fares says having the archives in Saint Louis would be more convenient than Jefferson City.

Staff members from the Secretary of State's office are in Saint Louis looking at possible locations for a new state archive center. The facility would be funded by a private St. Louis based trust fund and include archives that directly relate to the Saint Louis area.
Saint Louis Representative Kathlyn Fares is sponsoring the bill in the House. She says the archives would include Lewis and Clark documents and court cases from the area.
