UM would get a Springfield campus under a bill proposed by Democratic lawmaker Ken Jacob.
Megan Murphy has the story in Jefferson city.
Senator Ken Jacob has introduced a bill that would make Southwest Missouri State part of the UM Board of Curators.
Jacob's bill follows a proposed name change for S-M-S.
And, some worry changing Southwest's name could lead to a new university system that would compete against U-M for funding.
Jacob says there isn't enough cash to support two systems:
Jim Baker, a senior S-M-S-U administrator says the university is not interested in Jacob's proposal.
