Senator Ken Jacob has introduced a bill that would make Southwest Missouri State part of the UM Board of Curators.

Jacob's bill follows a proposed name change for S-M-S.

And, some worry changing Southwest's name could lead to a new university system that would compete against U-M for funding.

Jacob says there isn't enough cash to support two systems:

Contents: "You have two systems, competing for limited resources, one would get the resources and the other wouldn't. Education is the one area where you don't want competition."

Jim Baker, a senior S-M-S-U administrator says the university is not interested in Jacob's proposal.
