Missouri schools will not see $250 million in funding

An attempt by Missouri schools to get an additional $250 million dollars in funding is shot down by a circuit court judge.

Cole County Circuit Judge Richard Callahan ruled that Gov. Holden is authorized to withold funding from schools.

Callahan wrote that the Missouri Constitution grants the governor control over how much the state spends.

Spokesman for Holden Jack Cardetti says the legislature is to blame for inadequate school funding by not raising taxes.

Contents: Cardetti says the Governor has tried to gain additional funding for schools for the past two years, but the legislature has not complied. Holden will try to convince the legislature to increase funding again in January.

And the Cole County Circuit judge says that it's the governor's job to make sure the government does not exceed its budget.
