Football fans in Kansas City may get to start their tailgating parties as early as St. Louis fans.
Under a bill being debated in the House, people in Kansas City could get the same treatment as St. Louisans. They may get to buy their alcohol at 8am on Sundays also.
Even though the current law states 11am as the start time for liquor sales, St. Louis fans have always been able to buy alcohol earlier.
Representative Tom Villa spoke for the bill by saying...
Villa also said it would be bad to begrudge fans from attending pre-game events because they are tax revenue generators.
Representative Dan Bishop disagreed with this argument because he said the societal cost of drinking in the state outweighs the revenue gains.
In addition, statewide liquor sales could be moved up to 9am if the bill passes.

Under a bill being debated in the House, the start time for liquor sales on Sundays in Kansas City could be moved up to 8am. Formerly, Kansas City was under the statewide law that liquor sales not start until 11 am.
Representative Tom Villa spoke in favor of the bill because he feels pre-game events are revenue generators. He said the 11am start time for sales begrudges people from attending these tailgating parties.
In opposition, Representative Dan Bishop says he doesn't buy the revenue argument.
If the bill passes, the statewide law for liquor sales on Sundays would be moved up from 11am to 9am.
