Senator says Missouri Department of Transportation needs more oversight

St. Charles County Senator Jon Dolan is having a hard time convincing lawmakers to create a new position that would oversee the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Nishi Gupta reports.

Dolan says an inspector general would help MODOT regain credibility with the public. He says he just wants moderate reform.

Contents: "That's all we mean to do here. We're not calling for 50 audits and a expose. We're calling for solid policy analysis."

But, opponents of the proposal say it would take power away from the highway commission which is the bi-partisan body currently responsible for overseeing MODOT.
