The new University of Missouri president, Elson S. Floyd will be making three hundred and fifty thousand dollars, ninety thousand dollars more than what retiring president Manuel Pacheco made.

Some state legislators say that could be a problem.

Some Senators on the appropriations committee say they wonder where the additonal ninety thousand dollars will come from considering Missouri's current budget crisis.

Senator Stephen Stoll says the 2004 budget will be tighter than last year.

"I just don't foresee the University getting additional state funding."

Senator Betty Sims is concerned that this salary increase will cause more cuts within the University system.
