State Battles itself over abortion funding

The abortion issues goes in front of Missouri's Supreme Court today.

The state seems to be opposing itself in a case pitting the State of Missouri against Planned Parenthood and state Health Director Maureen Dempsey.

The state's attorney said Planned Parenthood should not have received state funds because the organization is associated with abortion.

Planned Parenthood said it simply stuck to its contract with Dempsey.

President of the St. Louis chapter, Paula Gianino says the lawsuit is frivalous.

St. Louis Planned Parenthood president Paula Gianino says that's a waste of money.

Justices heard arguments Tuesday afternoon in the case of Missouri versus Planned Parenthood and State Health Director Maureen Dempsey.

The state says Dempsey should not have signed a contract giving Planned Parenthood money, because the organization condones abortion.

St. Louis Planned Parenthood Director, Paula Gianino says poor women could be hurt by this.
