A potentially crucial ally to the environmental cause in Alaska has been found in Missouri Sen. Jean Carnahan.

Missouri Sen. Jean Carnahan stated Thursday that she definitively opposes oil drilling in the Alaskan reserve.
Alternative energies -- such as ethanol -- should be explored, she said.
Three energy experts pleaded Thursday for Carnahan's opposition vote, saying that her position was a crucial part of one of the most important votes for environmentalists.
