The Missouri transportation department says it has allocated more than $1.2 million dollars to audits this year. Elizabeth Gill has the story in Jefferson City:

The audit committee chairman Jim Anderson wants to make sure the transportation department isn't wasting money on audits. Anderson wants greater collaberation with Missouri state auditor Clair McCaskill's office:

Story:
RunTime: :8
OutCue: "combined audit"

McCaskill denied her office is spending more time at the transportation department than at other state agencies. McCaskill said her office has spent more hours at agencies such as social services. McCaskill said her office focuses auditing agencies she thinks can benefit from her recommendations. From the state capitol, I'm Elizabeth Gill.
