MoDot Transportation Director Henry Hungerbeeler says he sees no relief in sight for I-70. Elizabeth Gill has the story in Jefferson City:

Hungerbeeler says MoDot can not improve the poor condition of I-70 without an additional 2 point 5 to 3 billion dollars. After a proposed sales and motor fuel tax failed to win voter's approval this past August, MoDot does not have the revenue to start new projects. And Hungerbeeler says Modot has already used all of its existing resources. He says MoDot cannot use bonds to raise any more money:

OutCue: "afford to borrow"

Hungerbeeler says in addition to the funds needed to fix I-70, MoDot needs an additional 1 billion dollars per year to finish projects that have already been started state-wide. From the State Capitol, I'm Elizabeth Gill.
