Governor's Budget Comes Under Fire

A House appropriations committee calls the governor's budget plan hypocritical.

Representative Dennis Bonner chairs the committee and says the governor has not given a good explaination for why he gets to keep money while he cuts other state office budgets.

Contents: "He didn't make any changes, he didn't do any witholdings, or any holdbacks or any cuts within his own office budget, but he wanted to have cuts, holdbacks and witholdings done everywhere else. If he didn't have the courage to make those hard cuts himself, then our committee would be more than willing to do that for him."

The committee passed a plan that would cut the governor's budget by 40 percent and layoff 10 full time employees - a quarter of the governor's staff.
