Missouri Restaurant Association said some restaurants are suffering

Missouri's business organizations were not surprised that the state economic department declared on Thursday that Missouri is in a recession.

The vice president of Missouri's restaurant association, Pat Bergaur, said restaurants that depend on tourists, conventions, and holiday partys have been affected by the slow economy.

Bergaur said that restaurants in places like Columbia and Jefferson City are not as likely to feel the effects of the recession.

Restaurants in St. Louis that provide fine-dining will probably hit the worst.
